Daughter-in-law refuses to cook dinner for mother and father-in-law who are visiting her house uninvited at the last minute: ‘ My husband says his mom will be hurt.’

Should she have to cook them a big dinner when they’ve given her no time to prepare?

Not everybody likes entertaining at home, and for understandable reasons! It is stressful to have a bunch of people over, cook for them, and generally make sure that they have a good time. If you enjoy it, it can be a fulfilling way to connect with your family and friends. If you don’t like hosting, then it can be a lot more trouble than it’s worth. You have to deep-clean your house, only for it to get all messy again! Your little nephew could throw a toy car at your brand new TV, and you’re not even allowed to get angry with him about it.

There’s nothing worse than being asked to host something last-minute when you’re totally unprepared to do so. I’m not talking about your bestie asking to come over at the last minute to hang out and watch a movie. After all, she doesn’t care if your house needs dusting! I’m talking about your judgmental in-laws who barge into your home, demand that you cook for them, and complain about it the whole time.

The wife in this story took to r/AmITheAsshole to ask the community whether she’s wrong for refusing to cook dinner for her in-laws this Saturday because they’re showing up uninvited, she already has lots of weekend plans, and her useless husband refuses to cook.
