Demanding mother asks 25-year-old sister to abandon work meeting to pick up her child from school, lashes out when she refuses: ‘She said that she wasn’t free labour’

Just because you’re working from home, doesn’t mean you’re around for whatever, especially taking care of a child that isn’t yours. The shift toward working from home has opened up flexibility for workers (AKA you can do your laundry during the work day), but it’s also easily exploited by family members who don’t quite get it. Just because I’m at home doesn’t mean I have time to help you weed the garden, make a pot roast, and pick up the kid from karate. It’s still a job, even if I’m doing it in my pajamas. It’s up to you to draw the boundaries and let people know what’s okay and what’s not.

That’s what happened to one remote worker whose half-sister got upset when she couldn’t drop everything just to help out. But commenters were quick to swoop in and come to her defense. Read on for the story and see what you think.
