Dude Gets Called Out After Dissing People Who Read in Bars

Back in 2019, a wise Twitter user (@maplecocaine) once tweeted the following: «Each day on twitter there is one main character. The goal is to never be it». Truer words may never have been «spoken» on the app. It does seem like people make fools of themselves on a daily basis, whether it’s by oversharing, saying something hateful, or just presenting the world with a really, really, bad take. This past Sunday, the main character was one Jeremy Schneider.

What may seem like an innocent albeit stupid insult ruffled a whole lot of bookworm feathers on the bird app. Turns out lots of people like to read. And they like to do it with a drink by their side. While it’s clear that Schneider wasn’t really thinking when he tweeted his misguided sentiment, the tweet inspired others from people who seriously wondered why anyone would choose a bar stool over a reading nook. And Twitter users were quick to jump to the act’s defense. Some single folks expressed the urge to get out of the home and be around humans. Others simply pointed out that there’s a reason books are portable: you can (and should) read them absolutely anywhere. And then, of course, there were the people who chose to roast Jeremy. After a few days, even Jeremy admitted his offense was roastable, and issued a ten tweet apology explaining the error of his ways. We don’t think the lengthy atonement was necessary. We’re just here for the dumb drama.
