Getting hired by a team that quietly stopped commuting could be the best thing that happened to this employee.
There’s nothing better in life than when things turn out to be better than expected. That’s exactly what happened to this employee. According to the story posted in r/remoteworks, he got hired by a company that commuted to an office once a week. Although it wasn’t his original plan, he was willing to make it work and travel. The day he went to pick up his equipment, he realized that no one was there. After talking to his manager, he found out that working with a hybrid schedule was something they would want to implement in the future.
Luckily for him, this was excellent news. But this could not be the case for everyone. Since the remote system got more popular, many people realized that sometimes working remotely is not the best option. Essentially, it comes down to the person and how they function best. I’ve been working remotely for a while now, and although I’ve very much adapted, I sometimes miss the funny things that happen in the office. The countless coffee breaks, the gossiping in the kitchen, and overall a bunch of memories that could only be created by sharing a workspace.
I do understand the perks of working remotely, and I appreciate them. Being at home during those hot summer days and not having to commute somewhere is something to be thankful for. Also, I think I’m more productive when working from home: since I’m by myself, I don’t really have any distractions, so I’m better at managing my time and my tasks.
To this Redditor, working from home is always great, and he was happy to realize that he didn’t have to commute once a week to the office. Let us know in the comments what your opinion is about working remotely or at an office.
