Should he have done that?

We’ve all had an annoying coworker. I think I’ve been the annoying coworker, but sometimes I just can’t help it! Being a coworker is an awkward social situation. You can’t be as open and honest with your coworkers as you are with your friends, and yet you spend more time with your coworkers than you ever could with your friends! Sometimes I want to treat my coworkers like my friends, which isn’t always the most socially daft thing to do. But maybe that’s the Gen Z in me talking! Back in the day, people used to be friends with their coworkers, and there was nothing weird about that.

It’s important to know the right time and place to talk to your coworkers about certain topics. You might not want to be joking about getting fired after everyone in your coworker’s department just got laid off. It’s not always wise to joke about politics and religion at work, because you really have no idea what your coworkers actually believe. If everyone in the office is extremely busy, it might be best to hold off on talking about your weekend until the right moment. 

The guy in this story is not great at regulating his jokes in the workplace. He will joke and joke, even during the most inappropriate of moments, and his coworker finally had enough of his goofing off. The text he sent was not the most professional, but it just might’ve been the thing to get his coworker to shut up.
