Divorce is hard on any child, especially if the prospect of remarriage is in either of their parents’ futures. Of course, as children, we want our parents to find happiness in this cruel world, but it seems like the only way we’d keep our happiness is if the concept of a rekindled relationship between ex-lovers is in the cards. Or, at the very least, the idea that both of our parents will make an effort to stay in our lives even though they’ve begun creating a new life with someone else. It’s difficult coming to terms with our parents being separated, but it’s even more difficult to endure the feeling of a parent divorcing you, too.
In this next story, a 23-year-old woman finally confesses to her mother that she prefers her father over her after realizing her mother does not make an effort to keep a healthy relationship between the two of them. The woman’s father has been there for her through every step of the divorce, yet her mother has had no problem remarrying and cozying up to her new husband’s child.
