Freeloading sister refuses to adjust to off-the-grid new home: ‘Worried for these children’

I’ve always wanted to live «off the grid.» The way I live now is so «on the grid» it’s nuts. There is something beautifully romantic about imagining a cottage in a far-off pasture, growing your own vegetables, making bread, and not having to go on the internet. You could just read books all day, attend to the chores, and enjoy nature. It’s the dream of the cottage core aesthetic, and I’m not immune to it. I know that a lot of it is less glamorous than it’s cracked up to be, but it’s nice to dream.

The idea of it certainly gets more complicated when you involve unwilling relatives. If you’re going to live that life, you have to fully choose it. Any resistance to the lifestyle is just going to get in everyone’s way. That’s exactly what happened in this recent story from Reddit about a family member who found herself in a situation she wasn’t too happy about. Read on.
