Being a girl can be the best thing that’s ever happened to us, especially when other girlies cheer us on and celebrate our small victories.

I’ve always loved being a girl, mainly because I come from an all-female household. I have no brothers or male cousins… truly, the only man I interacted with before starting school was my own dad, and that made me pretty nervous around boys growing up. But I’ve always felt so comfortable with girls, and I love them… I love us! And I love that men don’t really understand what it feels like to be a girl, since it comes from within us and is hard to put into words. But it’s that feeling when you’re in the girls’ bathroom, and somehow we treat each other like we’ve been friends forever. That’s girlhood, and I’m here for it.

Now, being a woman comes with a set of expectations from society, and sometimes it takes a toll on us, and it’s hard to keep up. Being put together, smelling nice, smiling all the time, working out, eating healthy, being nice to your parents, having a clean house… I mean, the list goes on and on, and I think you get how tiring it can be. I’ll say, though, that what keeps us going is surrounding ourselves with other women who get the point and are there to support us and help us become that confident, empowered version of ourselves.
