Do you even need to understand soccer to watch the World Cup?
So, the World Cup is finally here, so every soccer fan out there is going to be a bit crazy in the following month. Just a quick heads up. But if you’re like me and don’t really get soccer, or sports in general, you’re not alone.
I can totally understand those crazy sports fanatics who wait for four years to see their country’s team play against others, and feel super proud about it. However, I just like the vibes. That excitement and emotion I see from others is what I like about the World Cup, or every other sports event in general. I love it because we can all get together and enjoy the game while eating some delicious snacks, my favourite part.
Once, a friend told me that, for them, a crazy sports fan, the best part about watching a World Cup match came from the casual viewers. We (yes, I’ll put myself in that category so can do too, if you like), make the whole experience a lot better. Since we don’t really follow the rules and don’t really care who wins or what happens, we pick our favourite team based on the jersey they are wearing, the team colours, and things like that. And for crazy fans, that’s funny to see.
I’ll say, though, that if the game turns out to be complicated, don’t you dare ask any questions because that’s not the time or place. Since they follow the games super passionately, asking questions about what’s happening may not be a smart decision. So, my advice to you during the World Cup is to get together with your friends and family, buy a whole bunch of snacks, and enjoy the experience.
