I understand why moms of twin babies dress them alike. It eliminates one decision that they have to make in the day. It’s probably far easier to buy two of the same outfits instead of trying to style a baby in a specific and unique way. Honestly, if they can’t talk yet, I don’t think it’s minimizing their individuality at all. 

On the other side of the coin, I do understand why a parent would want to distinguish their identical kids from the word go. They’re going to spend their whole lives being grouped together by strangers and peers, so why not make sure they’re always looking different at home? That’s the philosophy of one mom who refuses to dress her identical twin 1-year-old daughters in matching outfits. Her mom (their grandmother) tried to pressure her into dressing them identically for their family photo, but she was not having it.
