Greedy Airbnb Host Tries To Slap Guest With Dog-Related Fees Despite Allowing Pets

Airbnb hasn’t been the most popular company lately. Hosts are notoriously unreasonable, greedy (and sometimes lazy), and the cleaning fees are exorbitant. It’s absurd to see a home listed for $200 a night when the fees actually bring it to twice that. Unfortunately, this is the reality of renting from the company’s hosts, and though more people are turning to hotels for their lodging needs, Airbnb remains an important option for large groups, pet owners, and people seeking extended stays.

This past weekend, one Airbnb user took to Twitter to complain about one of the greedy hosts we shouted out above. The host reached out to @inreGray after her weeklong stay with a photo of a dog hair-filled vacuum cleaner. She claimed that because the home is not pet-friendly, she would have to charge the guest an additional cleaning fee due to the dog hair. There’s just one problem: her listing advertises that the home is, in fact, pet-friendly.

Once @inreGray alerted the host to her error, she doubled back and claimed that it must be a glitch on the part of Airbnb. Sure. While the saga doesn’t seem to be quite over (Airbnb is on the case), we enjoyed the detailed account, and, of course, the Airbnb bashing that’s happening on the thread. Most people seem to be team Dog, but as per usual, there are some opposing opinions. We’re mostly happy that @inreGray shared a pic of her dog Judge with the thread. He’s cute as hell, and can stay at our place any time.
