What kind of a friend is he?

If you decide to explicitly uninvite someone from an event, whether it be a birthday party or a wedding, you have to accept that there’s a good chance that the uninvited person will no longer want to be friends with you. I don’t know about y’all, but I have an incredibly visceral reaction when I can tell that I’m somewhere where I am not wanted. If I can tell that the people around me would rather I not be there, I get out of there as soon as I possibly can, because it just makes me incredibly uncomfortable. I would rather spend time by myself than risk being the least-favorite person in a space. Anyone with any shred of dignity feels the exact same way as I do. 

Getting uninvited from a casual hangout or a birthday party can sting, but at least it doesn’t cost you much time or money. You can always make new plans on the night you were supposed to attend those things. But if you get uninvited from something that requires you to take off work and buy plane tickets, that’s a whole other story. The uninvited woman in this story got her uninvitation a mere month before the event…you would think it couldn’t get any worse, but it absolutely can. She was uninvited, but her husband wasn’t, so now he has to choose between her and his childhood friend’s wedding. Luckily for them, he made the right choice.
