Hopeless Romantic Treks Through New York Flooding For A First Date

It’s human nature to make a sacrifice in the name of love now and then. We wouldn’t have any tales of great romance if people didn’t make the occasional dramatic and/or mind-bogglingly stupid gesture just because somebody else gives them butterflies. That being said, there comes a point where most people would draw the line, especially with a person they’ve just met. This was not the case for @cassidydangler, who braved the biblical storm that hit New York last week in order to go on a date with a man she had talked to on a dating app.

In a video uploaded to TikTok, she explains that she decided to travel through the storm because she felt bad cancelling at the last minute and he seemed eager to go. She documents her broken umbrella, wading through huge puddles and emptying her boots of some suspiciously colored water on her journey, later revealing in the comment section that she hadn’t been aware of the severity of the weather before she ventured outside.

To make matters worse, the date was a flop — lasting only an hour and making Cassidy pay for the drinks, despite the fact that she had travelled seventy blocks further than him to meet. While many felt bad for what she had endured, an equal number of viewers were confused about why she chose to make such a huge sacrifice for a guy she hadn’t even met yet. It’s a sobering reminder that no matter how good the texts, it’s not worth risking your life to take it to the next level.
