Happy Friday, and welcome to a new selection of memes reflecting the current state of dating! P.S.: It’s not good

Whether you have a first date planned for today or have given up on dating altogether, here is a list to remind you that you are not as alone as you think. You might be single, but you’re not alone in this crazy territory called ‘modern dating’.

As you get older, it gets harder and harder to find a match, but, much to my surprise, it’s not because you get uglier; it’s because it becomes harder to fall in love or even like somebody!

Suddenly, playing guitar in a band doesn’t have allure, and you start wondering whether he will be able to afford the bills with you.

You start meeting random people at work who never would have interested you,  but that seems to be your entire, achievable dating pool, and complete discouragement appears just around the corner.

At first I thought getting ghosted was the worst that could happen to you; it turns out much worse things can happen. Five years into the dating pool, I’ve ghosted people myself. When you don’t know the person, or you’ve been on only one or two dates, explaining too much makes everything worse; nobody wants to receive a long explanation of why someone doesn’t want to keep seeing us. 

We have to get good at interpreting absence as a full response. I know that this goes along the lines of ‘If he wanted to, he would’, but it’s better to live like this than to live wishing and hoping somebody who doesn’t talk to us or ask us out loves us.

Given the modern circumstances, you still fix your hair and go out; hopefully, you will generate some good stories. At least you will have a laugh, and who knows? Maybe you’ll meet the love of your life at your local cat-café, lol.
