Everyone is entitled to their own music taste. This doesn’t mean that you have to like it, but you must respect it. Some people want to spend their days listening to Imagine Dragons. While I can’t quite fathom this reality, I don’t go around trying to stop their fans from buying their records. Music is personal– it helps shape our sense of self, gets us through tough moments, and helps us reflect on our own lives. I wouldn’t expect anyone else to be into exactly the same kind of music as me, because only I have lived a life that has led me to like the kind of music I do. 

However, if I was sharing my music with someone, I would hope they would be respectful. I would hope that they know that it matters, and treat it accordingly. This is the bare minimum expectation, but not everyone always abides by it.
