When is it appropriate for a person in a relationship to vacation without their partner?
It isn’t a bad thing to maintain a certain level of independence in a relationship; in fact, many would argue that this is the healthiest way to be. Feeling the need to do absolutely everything together and never let the other person have experiences by themselves can be an indicator of problems below the surface. A good partner allows you to be yourself with or without them.
At the same time, if you are with somebody whom you actually like, there is every chance that you are going to want them to be around for a lot of things. Going off on an adventure without inviting them or giving them many details is a recipe for an argument that a relationship may not recover from. It sends a message that this commitment is not something that they prioritize, and maybe that there are secrets that are yet to be uncovered. At the very least, there are certain contexts where it is understandable for a partner to be a little upset if their significant other decides to do something without them. They may feel left out for no good reason.
