Marriage is not a straight line. It’s up and down. It’s not always going to be wonderful and it’s not always going to be terrible (hopefully). You have to ride the ebbs and flows together and work on your relationship instead of giving up. But working on it together usually requires you to be in the same room at least some of the time. This, of course, can be hard for couples, and can easily become a source of tension. Maybe one of you works during the day and one of you works at night and you only see each other as you’re getting into bed (or maybe one of you is always asleep first).
But in these situations, it’s vital to prioritize time together. Maybe you have opposite schedules but maybe you have weekends. And if not, maybe you can plan a trip together. As long as you’re trying, that’s what’s important.
