It can be a delight to hear from a former employer. Maybe you formed a close bond when you worked together and enjoyed staying in touch about your new adventures and goings-on. Maybe they have a new opportunity for you and want to keep you in the loop. Or maybe they need a reference, and you’re happy to give it to them because they were a wonderful boss. That’s not what happened in this story. 

When you leave a job, most of us try to leave it on good terms. There’s always going to be a bit of awkwardness, but you hopefully try to lessen that as much as possible. You aim to leave everything tied in a bow, so there’s no ill will on anyone’s side and you can all move forward peacefully with your lives. This isn’t always possible, though, if you don’t have anything good to say about your employer.
