Not all pregnancies are planned. In fact, I would venture to say that in the history of human civilization, less than .01% of children were intended to be had from the jump. For a lot of people, pregnancy and kids are just something that happens to them, and they deal with it the best way they can. If you were a mistake, it doesn’t mean that your parents don’t love and value you. Where do you think the phrase «happy little accidents» came from? Okay, you got me there; it did come from Bob Ross’s mistakes while painting and not babies, but the term can easily be applied to both!
While favoritism based on family planning is unseemly, it certainly does happen. There are so many parents that have a kid way later than all of their other siblings, forcing them to take on a humiliating nickname like «The Bonus Jonas.»
