Do you take creatine or protein shakes? I’m still indecisive
Going to the gym used to be considered a bothersome task, something we all did to take care of ourselves, but it was quite the nuisance. Getting up early to go before work, drinking protein shakes, having a specific routine… All impediments to our happiness. But, as I said, that was before.
In the last few years, it seems like we all suddenly became number one fans of exercising. Personally, I’m more of a Pilates girly, but I still have a gym membership I try to use as often as possible. Full disclosure, I haven’t been using it much the last few weeks, but I sure intend to be more regular with it from now on.
It’s interesting to see that not only is exercise becoming more popular, but so is everything that comes before or after exercising. Of course, it’s good for our health, and we always knew that, but only recently have we seemed to fully get it, and even take it a step further. It’s not about exercising and keeping moving anymore. There’s an entire subculture of people who eat, breathe, and live the gym. Suddenly I started hearing words like «bulking,» «calorie deficit,» and «tracking your macros.» I admire people who are focused enough to keep track of everything.
It seems that we grew afraid of getting older and not being able to do things by ourselves. Having muscle and being healthy keeps you younger for longer, and that way we won’t be a burden to anybody. We all love our independence, and we’ll do what we have to do to keep it for as long as possible. Even if that means getting up at 5 and eating a dozen eggs to keep our muscle mass intact.
Still, improving our bodies takes time and effort, and something a lot of people forget is that we also need rest. So, take this relatable list of memes as an opportunity to rest and give those muscles time to recover until they come back stronger!
