Incredibly Inept Recruiter Inspires Fail-Filled Twitter Thread

Recruiters probably help to match a lot of skilled people with quality vacancies. But they can be incredibly annoying and sometimes even straight up careless. They cold message you on LinkedIn, promising opportunities, pretending as though they’re sending a genuine message rather than just filling in the blanks of a generic template. That kind of behavior has become expected – I don’t even bother opening correspondence from people with a corporate headshot.

We recently covered a man whose recruiter scheduled an interview for the job he’d fired from, but thanks to Twitter user @inkxel, we have been blessed with some more stories of careless and inefficient headhunters.

According to David Tucker (@inkxel), a recruiter contacted him for a role that actually reports to him at his current place of work. This means that the recruiter went ahead and messaged him without even bothering to look at his credentials. This carelessness is not a good look, and even has the potential of alerting someone to the fact that their job is on the line. The short but painful tale inspired other Twitter users to share their own entertaining and embarrassing stories of sloppy and negligent recruiters – and some tips to help us avoid them. These tweets really make us wonder who recruits the recruiters.
