Job Applicant Withdraws Application After Being Made To Do Free Labor

There are so many things that can be asked of you during the process of applying for a job. I’ve had to take aptitude tests, send writing samples, and, of course, explain my entire life in the hope that I’ll be offered the chance to perform labor. Some job application processes seem excessive; I’ve never been the biggest cover letter girly, and I tried to avoid them at all costs when I was on the job hunt. But having to write a cover letter isn’t the same as having to spend hours doing a task for the job you’re applying for before you even get the job. Oftentimes, companies take writing assignments or presentations that applicants do and use them for their own benefit despite not hiring the applicants or compesating them for their ideas. One worker decided to withdraw their application after it was clear they were going to have to do free labor to get hired, and the anti-workers of Reddit are cheering them on.
