DNA testing is an incredibly useful technology. It gives us the power to be more informed about our medical history, our genetic makeup, and where we come from. It’s something that we didn’t have access to 100 years ago, but we do now. So like any new(ish) technology, we’re still figuring out how to use it. Knowledge is power, yes. But sometimes ignorance is bliss. There are a lot of people out there who would rather not know something than know something that might hurt people.
And sometimes maturity is learning when to keep the quiet part quiet. We all should be honest with each other whenever we can, but there’s a difference between being honest and being hurtful. It’s hard to know the line between hurtful and truthful. The man in this story certainly flirted with that line, and probably flirted too hard with danger.
