Manager Rejects Qualified Candidate, Asks Him to Help The Unqualified Person They Hired

Everybody knows that the hiring process is not always fair. Sometimes, the most qualified candidate will get passed up for someone who doesn’t exactly fit the bill, and the company has to deal with the consequences of that choice. Recruiters will often put up job postings on different websites and interview incredibly qualified candidates for weeks just to hire somebody internally. The opposite can also be true. Companies will say they’re open to hiring qualified candidates from within the organization but will reject such candidates because they’re invaluable in their current positions. One dude found himself in the latter situation and decided to put his four-week notice in. To his surprise, the candidate they hired reached out to him and asked him questions about how to do the job correctly. According to the new employee, the manager who passed him up for the job recommended he help train this new hire.
