‘Maybe if we break the legs off, it’ll fit’: Choosing beggar attempts to take home a $50 couch on a bicycle to try and guilt-trip their marketplace seller into a 40% discount and free delivery

Facebook Marketplace is full of low-ballers, swindlers, and flagrant upsellers.

Although it’s an excellent place to get a deal on some used furniture, lightly used electronics, or even a new baseball bat for your kid, you unfortunately have to deal with the marketplace regulars to do so. Sifting through the riff-raff of humanity can sometimes cheapen a good deal, but when you’re faced with the most absurd swindlers in the biz, you have to be ready for whatever guilt-trips, sad stories, or pathetic tales they’re willing to tell to get $20 off.

This unwitting person was trying to sell a used couch online. Guilty about throwing the perfectly good furniture away, they listed it online for $50—a steal in the couch world. But the choosing beggar that came out of the woodwork to buy the couch not only tried to haggle her way into a 40% discount, but also free delivery.

Because we all know that a couch would never fit on a bicycle, even for the most determined low-budget buyer.
