One thing that we can reliably say about memes is that they are designed to be fun. Whether we experience them as such is a matter of taste, but look, even the fussiest of us can find one or two to chortle at on a semi-regular basis. Perhaps we do get a little tired of them now and then, especially when we see the same old images and formats return to try and strongarm us into being amused. Nonetheless, we have ample opportunity to come round to the fact that they’re great when a load more of them come along. Yep, those pesky memes are likely to stay as the internet’s most beloved medium of entertainment until we can find something better. Who knows what a post-meme era might look like, or whether it will even happen at all? In the meantime, we’ve got all these funny pictures to keep us occupied.
