The Macy’s Parade, football games, and a 25lbs bird stand between Christmas lovers and their favorite day of the year, but that’s not going to stop us from getting excited about the holiday season early… Perhaps, a little too early.
Dearest Thanksgiving lovers, your holiday is late this year, so the Christmas crowd would like to get the ball rolling a little early. Christmas will always take precedence over gravy and turkey, because it’s a far more delightful and merry holiday. What’s our crime? Enjoying merriment and mirth to the fullest extent?
Well, considering my Christmas tree has been assembled and decorated since November 1st, perhaps I’m not one to comment on whether or not it’s «too early» to celebrate the holidays. We are overzealous and we know it, filling our carts at the Hobby Lobby with 50% off decorations and shaking the dust off the Christmas lights from the attic. The glimmering magic of the Christmas season is so close we can taste the peppermint mochas and the gingerbread houses.
If only that darned Turkey Day weren’t inhibiting us, we could be fully merry without judgment. Alas, there’s only one more week until it’s socially acceptable to break out the holiday vinyls, so until then, Christmas obsessives will wait patiently, biding their time until the snow settles perfectly and the cold winter nights require more than slathering of gravy.
