Some weddings are only nominally about the couple who is getting married.
In a lot of cases, there are family members or even friends behind the scenes who want to make the special day all about them and what they want. While we are all aware that the outlandishly demanding bridezilla can be a very true and insufferable trope, it could be argued that these types of individuals are worse. They are not supposed to be the main focus of the event, yet that is exactly what they want.
As if wedding planning wasn’t stressful enough, being a bride or groom who has to deal with this on top of all the other things that need to be organized can be the thing that tips them over the edge. You would think that those around them would be willing to defer to their desires at this time, which is meant to be all about them. Instead, they have to consider the random whims of their so-called loved ones, which can end up giving them even more work to do. Living vicariously through somebody else is a sad state at the best of times, but doing it with a wedding is especially tragic.
