I really sympathize with the parents of young children when it comes to having to organize their kids’ social lives. Not only do they have to make their child happy, they have to do their best to appease all the other kids and adults involved, too. There can be an awful lot of awkward conversations when it comes to things like playdates and birthday parties, and sometimes they can come from the most unexpected of sources.

This is something that one mom had to deal with when she attempted to host a quiet birthday celebration for her son. He had only wanted to have a sleepover with two of his closest friends, but his teacher noticed his classmates wishing him a happy birthday and got in contact to tell her that she thought she should invite his whole class. Understandably, the mom felt annoyed, but she worried she had gone too far in her retaliation.
