Getting ready for a full Girls rewatch before the new episodes come out
We can all agree that Jemima Kirke’s online personality is very provocative, and these famous Q&A quotes are only a small example of that. She often talks about how people confuse her with the character she played on Girls, but I think that even though she is not the same person as her character (obviously), they do share some qualities. Like being provocative, for example. Let’s face it, her Q&As feel like something Jessa would say, at least in my mind.
I decided to bring back this famous Q&A while we’re preparing to watch the new episodes just to get in the mood and revisit the actors’ universe. I’m excited for Girls’ new episodes because I found it really hard to find other series that were worth watching. I mean, I watched Mad Men, The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Bojack Horseman, Girls, SATC. What other good series objectively exist? I need them all to make a comeback and make watching them my new life purpose.
When Euphoria was airing, I had a standing appointment at a friend’s house to watch every new episode. I asked the same friend if she had watched Girls so we could do the same, and she hadn’t, so now I’ve decided I will take the time and effort to introduce her to it and watch it with her from the beginning. I think it will take us like a year lol, because we can only do it once a week. I consider introducing someone to Girls a public service; it’s my duty, and I won’t back out.
I’m entering my thirties right now, and I suppose many girls who watched the series are, too. And the characters turning forty will be like a relatable prediction of what our forties can look like for us.
The new episodes of Girls will only enter production in 2027, so we still have to wait for a long time, and I’m kinda counting on Jemima to keep us entertained until then. I miss the messy, unpredictable characters and celebrities really (I don’t think Jemima is a character; she just reminds me of Jessa! Please).
I think part of the Jessa allure is because she kept a carefree attitude, and that made her very attractive, even though she was just as flawed as the other characters were. I was a Jessa fan, and I’m totally like the girls who identify as Samanthas when they’re actually Carries, but leave me alone with my delusion; I’m probably like a mix between Ray and Hannah, but I like to believe I’m a Jessa.
If you’re looking for inspiration on how to be unapologetic and inappropriate, this is the correct compilation for you. And please let’s separate Jemima from Jessa; she would totally hate me for this.
So, whether you’re preparing for a Girls rewatch or just adore Jemima and want to read her infamous wisdom pearls, here are my favourites; hope you enjoy!
