Do all German Shepherds look like fluffy bears?

The short answer is yes. All German Shepherds look like little bears. Well, maybe not so little; after all, they are not small dogs, but they are definitely smaller than a regular bear. And less dangerous too. 

They are the dog version of a multitasking superhero. German Shepherds are fit to be police dogs, firefighter dogs, and shepherd dogs, of course. They can do everything. They are brave, loyal, protective, and adorable. Yet, we’ve all seen them do strange and silly things while running all over the place.

It’s an interesting duality of their character. They are indeed superhero dogs when they get proper training, but they can also be the silliest, fluffiest, clumsiest creatures on earth. If they don’t get enough exercise, they can destroy every cushion in your living room, and the furniture too. They are as catastrophic as they are amazing. And a headache for their owners, that’s for sure. The personality trait that makes them so energetic and messy inside a house is the same trait that makes them a perfect fit to work alongside hoomans in some of the most demanding and dangerous jobs out there. 

One of my parent’s friends had a German Shepherd when I was a little kid. I was both obsessed and terrified of that dog. He was a cuddly little thing, but it was twice my size… And at six years old, twice my size was a lot. Even so, the dog was ever playful, ever sweet, and ever huge (for me at least). A natural guardian of the house, he ran around the entire garden, fetching twigs, barking at birds, and living his best life.
