People Discuss Whether They’d Withstand a Year of Solitary Confinement for $20 Billion

Before the pandemic, we all took our social lives for granted. I know I certainly did. My life completely flipped on its head when I went from being in public from 8 AM to 10 PM to staying inside with only my family for five months. From there, I moved into an apartment with roommates, which helped a bit with the isolation, but by no means cured it. I didn’t begin to recover from only having eight friends in my pod until May 2021, when I could finally socialize freely with strangers. The pandemic gave all of us a glimpse into the abject effects of social isolation. Whether you were an introvert or an extrovert, you likely discovered how vital socializing is to our health.

It brings me no joy to announce that after all that, people are still debating on Twitter whether they would isolate themselves for an ungodly amount of time without any entertainment for billions of dollars.
