People React to and Riff On Disney’s $5000 Star Wars Hotel

Look. We know that a lot of people love Disney. As a kid, you’re basically trained to want to go to one of their tricked out amusement parks. You want to see Goofy’s goofiness up close, meet a princess in a floofy gown, and stand in line for over an hour with your disgruntled parents who would rather be drinking. After a while you grow up, and while you do want to go to Disneyland for some rides, you also want to spend more time at the Trader Sam’s tiki bar, drinking until you get into an explosive fight with your boyfriend while surrounded by people twice your age who are wearing fanny packs. Or maybe that’s just me.

While some people grow out of this Disney obsession, there are many, many adults who cling to it. They save their money all year to spend a week in Orlando taking photos for Instagram. Some people even get married at the parks. And we’re sure that a fair number of these «Disney adults» want to live in their just-announced residential community in California’s Coachella Valley. Though living the Disney life in a gated community isn’t attainable for at least a few years, you can book yourself a room for two nights at their new Star Wars hotel in Disney World – if you have an extra $5k just lying around.

@SFGate tweeted their article about the hotel earlier this week, which delves deep into the establishments negative reviews. While some reviewers agreed that if you’re rich, it’s worth it, the sentiment was largely that for $5k, people who aren’t flush with cash will find its windowless rooms claustrophobic, and possibly a waste of money. People on Twitter were quick to respond to this news. While some people think it’s ridiculous to complain about a lack of windows on what’s supposed to be a spaceship, others are perfectly content to poo-poo the hefty price. Then there are the folks who’d rather just use the opportunity to flex their comedy muscles. You can probably guess which reactions are our favorites.
