Out of all the different kinds of people that share memes, those who code appear to be some of the most enthusiastic and prolific. There are plenty of reasons for this, and most of them stem from programmers’ deep familiarity with and affection/frustration towards computers. Coding can be the kind of activity that frequently makes you wonder why you picked it up in the first place, and anyone who spends enough time doing it needs an occasional outlet. It’s no surprise that many programming memes are born out of exasperation. If we really think about it, though, so is a lot of great art. These silly little images deserve some appreciation for what they offer to those fluent in one or more programming languages (or who at least pretend to be). Sometimes coding memes feel painfully accurate. Other times, they’re just a funny way to meander through a couple of spare minutes.
