It recently came to my attention that pretty much everyone ever resorts to reading shampoo bottles or air freshener labels when stuck on the toilet without a phone or a book. How did this illuminating epiphany strike? Well, it was all thanks to a meme.

Though it may be slightly disappointing to realize we’re not uniquely precious snowflakes, it’s actually pretty relieving to know that our jobs all make us miserable and that it’s absolutely common to have a negative inner voice who constantly tells you that you’re worthless and will never amount to anything. Our little quirks, from talking to ourselves all day, to clicking tongs, are made normal thanks to meme makers. The feeling of unity is actually quite wholesome. While memes won’t help the world achieve world peace, the least they can do is make us feel a little less alone. And we think these relatable memes do just that.
