The whole point of a two-week notice is that you give your employer… two weeks’ notice. In most places, you can leave a job whenever you want to. You don’t have to give notice unless you have a contract that says so. Nobody can force you to go to work, and you can just stop showing up. But it’s generally accepted that if you want to keep in good graces with your employer, so you can use them as a reference in the future… You should give two weeks’ notice. It’s enough time for them to ease you out of your role and begin the search for a new employee. To ask for anything more would be defeating the purpose of a two-week notice.
