Rollercoaster Thread Details High School Scandals That Deserve A Piece In New York Magazine

Cancel culture is one of those hot button issues that long ago descended into the realm of topics to avoid bringing up in front of curmudgeonly, middle-aged family members. Nonetheless, we still somehow find ourselves talking about it every other day. Latest in the line of public dramas it has caused has come in the form of a New York Magazine article, revealing the tale of 17 year old who supposedly got canceled for leaking his girlfriend’s nudes.

Unsurprisingly, many people weren’t too sure that the story of a guy who became disliked for doing something both morally wrong and illegal deserved such sympathetic treatment, not least when it overlooked the real victim. However, this also stirred up conversation surrounding the touchy topic of high school drama.

Putting aside the media-based controversy, @EthanSCorey decided to ask Twitter what the magazine should have done a piece of literary journalism on when it came to their educational experience. People weren’t short on stories, ranging from the beautifully mundane to genuinely shocking. When you put a bunch of rebellious teenagers together in an institution that doesn’t always work like it should, the whole thing is a cookie cutter recipe for juicy stories. Why weren’t any of these on the front page?
