Seeing the Internet Through ‘Fandom-Colored Glasses’ Will Cure Your Mindless Doomscrooling

I was 13 years old when I first learned what it meant to be a part of a fandom. It was right after I finished reading the last Harry Potter book, and I desperately needed to find people who were as excited about this magical series as I was. This led me to the best place you can connect with other people over a shared interest: the internet.

Most people, when they go online, have a favorite form of entertainment. It can be cute animal videos, celebrity drama or random memes. Through the years that I have been chronically online, I have come to the conclusion that the best content to consume on the internet is the one that comes from a fandom, like the Harry Potter fandom. Nothing compares to a collective obsession that fills every social platform with the most entertaining and interesting posts, videos, and memes to enjoy online.
