In complex modern family structures, boundaries can be difficult to define, especially when infidelity has played a central role in their creation. One woman described such a situation after her ex-husband, who engaged in a two-year affair during their marriage, asked her to begin babysitting his partner’s child every Friday. 

The request came not from him directly, but from the woman with whom he had the affair.
