Sometimes the family drama is not about one big moment. It is about years of tiny unfairnesses that stack up until moving your life a little farther away starts feeling less like rebellion and more like basic self-defense
A lot of people hear about a huge family and immediately picture chaos in the fun, loud, everyone cooking together kind of way. But some households just turn into a permanent group project where one kid gets assigned the role of family punchline and everybody else pretends that is normal. When the older siblings spent years acting like the youngest was the designated problem, it was never going to end with one neat apology and a group hug. Those dynamics tend to leave a mark. They do not fade because everybody grew up and learned how to post birthday photos.
Turns out, in some families, moving a little farther from home is treated like a normal adult choice, and in others it is apparently the kind of betrayal that requires a group meeting and a public meltdown
