As someone who has not eaten an animal on purpose for a very long time, the concept of eating a shrimp is kind of freaky to me. You’ve got to take out a poop vein if you want it to taste nice? Sounds suspicious.

However, that’s not to say that they’re not versatile when it comes to both the kitchen and the sea. From gumbo, to surf and turf, to being the things that whales inhale in their millions, there’s almost nothing the humble shrimp can’t do under the right conditions. 

Not only that, but their kind of freaky appearance makes them perfect for another job: being the starring role in memes. There might not be much going on behind those beady little eyes, but they sure see a lot of funny things happening on the internet. After all, a shrimp did fry that rice so a jaded memer could make a joke about the takeout they were having that night.
