Would you risk your job to help out your coworker?
Jobs are not easy to find, especially these days. It’s a tough job market out there. So you probably want to hang on to the one you have if you can help it at all. We’re probably not trying to risk our jobs for any reason, unless we utterly have to. Who would take on that kind of risk these days? We’re all about stability, trying to do as much as we can to stay afloat in these trying times. That doesn’t mean that we don’t want to help out our fellow coworkers here and there… we should. But anything that might result in you losing your job was probably not worth doing in the first place, no matter how much you want to help each other out.
Nobody likes to be put in an awkward situation, especially by the people they work with. You would hate to be made to feel like you were forced into a situation you were not comfortable with. But sometimes you have to make compromises in this life, and sometimes the universe asks something of you that you were never prepared for. But it’s up to you to draw boundaries for yourself, and stick to your morals when you can. Life will constantly test your boundaries, and it’s up to you to constantly assert yourself and your ideas. That’s what happened to the employee in this story, whose coworker asked her something about her that she was not comfortable with.
