Going out for Halloween for the first time ever

This might sound surprising, but I have never gone to a Halloween party before. I swear the idea of going out just for the sake of going out was never appealing to me. I know I sound like the most boring person on earth, but I swear I’m not. It’s just that I’ve always preferred to go out to the movies or to music festivals, and being at a party with only electronic music blasting and coloured lights never sounded cool to me.

But now, I’ve decided to do something different, and I’m actually excited to go out. I think I always was a homebody, also because I was always anxious about other stuff, and that didn’t allow me to enjoy parties just for the sake of parties.

I’ve declined many invitations because staying home felt safer. I’m not saying you have to have your entire life figured out before you can party, but it’s what happened to me. Now that I’m reaching a state of more general stability- in my finances, in my love life, and in general- I feel more inclined to party. I don’t know what’s happening to me.

I’m going to dress up as Shakira in the ‘Las de la intuición’ video. I know it’s a niche reference, lol, but I’ve been saving this idea for months. It’s an easy costume, and a very specific one, which I love.

I wish I could come up with more niche Internet costumes, but I don’t have that kind of creativity; maybe I can build it over the years. Today I saw Benito Skinner and Mary Beth Barone dressed as Ellen DeGeneres and Dakota Johnson in the infamous interview where Dakota exposes her. That kind of genius eludes me. But I will keep trying.

I like that my transition into a party girl is on Halloween. I think it’s a very special night for rites of passage, so it’s ideal for me. I’ll put on my costume, leave the house, and start my new carefree era, where I leave all my neuroticism behind and start focusing on enjoying my life and keeping it together.

Maybe growing up it’s not only about studying, finding your path, keeping your career, making money, moving alone, learning to clean and manage finances. Maybe it’s about parties too. And about showing off my body as young as it is! It will never be as young again, lol.
