What are you looking for in a collection of truly funny memes?

Here at Cheezburger, we are always looking for an answer to the question of what makes a meme funny. When people are scrolling through their favorite meme site, what are they clicking on, and what are they avoiding?

Obviously, we all have memes that never fail to make us laugh, and memes that we either don’t understand or simply don’t find funny. It is a matter of personal preference, and a combination of our interests, hobbies, and even style of humor. 

Many, for example, love memes about animals. If they give them a meme that best describes their relationship with their pet, or simply something that uses the image of an awwdorable animal, you definitely got their attention. If you give them a whole collection of howlarious animal memes, then you have made their day.

Other people tend to go for memes that they find relatable. Life is weird, crazy, and unpredictable, but at least we know we are not alone in it. There are almost no experiences that are completely unique to your life; someone out there has probably experienced something similar, and they probably made a meme about it. If the experience is common enough, you will be able to find thousands of memes that make you feel seen. What better way is there to get through life than with humor and companionship? Memes give us that. They make us feel like we are not alone, and that life is really not that serious.

There are plenty of other memes that fall into different categories. There are memes for every fandom out there, like Harry Potter, Star Wars, and even Greek mythology. There are memes for parents, and memes for people currently looking for their next great love. All you need to do is find what makes you laugh and scroll with it.
