The Best Disney Memes of the Week (January 21, 2023)

Disney is addicted to acquiring properties. From Pixar to Star Wars to Avatar, they’ve got some pretty high-profile brands in their wheelhouse. Unfortunately, there is one Disney property that has been so underused it’s almost criminal. I’m talking, of course, about our felt friends, the Muppets. Disney acquired the Muppets in 2004, and they haven’t done squat with them since! Sure, we got the 2011 movie The Muppets and the less successful sequel Muppets Most Wanted, but you’d think they would have made more strides in 20 years. Those two flicks are the only bright lights among a million stinkers. Who could forget the horrible adaptation of The Muppets’ Wizard of Oz? I wish I could forget that.

If you’ve been online recently, it’s clear that everybody wants new muppet content. I would change my negative opinion of Disney live-action remakes if they made a Fox and the Hound remake with original muppet characters. Or, instead of that rotten Tim Burton Dumbo, they did Dumbo, where every character except Dumbo was a muppet! The possibilities are endless, so let’s hope the next 20 years will not see the muppets rotting away in storage units, ne’er to be seen again.
