Maybe it’s about time we stopped asking kids, «what do you want to be when you grow up?». While many of them will answer things like astronaut, singer, or gratingly annoying YouTube personality, the reality is that many will end up in some kind of uninspiring 9 to 5 like the rest of us.

Aside from a lucky few, most of us don’t do the things that we thought we’d end up doing for work when we were kids. Even if we do wind up in our dream jobs, they often don’t turn out to be everything that they were cracked up to be. 

This might not be an enjoyable realization, but at least we can comfort ourselves through the power of humor. Memes share in our pain about the daily grind, and they lighten the load a little, too. At least the next generation of workers will have that to look forward to.
