When I first read the Harry Potter series, my favorite character was unquestionably Remus Lupin. It was such a relief to finally get a Defense Against The Dark Arts professor that wasn’t evil or incompetent but instead had a furry little problem and an important connection to Harry’s dad. He’s a great character and my favorite of the seven or so Harry father figures we get in the series, but I think his werewolf issue is his most compelling character element. Maybe I’m just a werewolf girly because I was Team Jacob during the Twilight phenomenon. It was unlike my genuine liking for Lupin, though; I was Team Jacob because I felt like he needed more people on his team, given the popularity of Robert Pattinson and Edward Cullen. I digress.
