The actors playing Harry, Ron, and Hermione in the new Harry Potter HBO Max series have been announced, and the fan reaction has been relatively positive. Dominic McLaughlin will play Harry Potter, with Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout portraying Ron Weasley. If you don’t recognize these names, that would make sense unless you’re a children’s talent agent in the UK. Stanton was recently seen in the titular role of Matilda in the West End musical, as well as in the role of Control in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Starlight Express. Much like Daniel Radcliffe before him, McLaughlin has been in a BBC television adaptation of a novel (David Copperfield for Radcliffe, Gifted for McLaughlin). In a strange turn of events, Alastair Stout has had no previous professional experience, which is the exact same amount of experience Rupert Grint had when he auditioned for the role of Ron Weasley.
