It’s wild to watch your kid become a person right before your eyes. It can be hard to imagine that what not long ago was a defenseless bundle of flesh now has opinions and thoughts and a whole lot of personality. It invokes the question of nature vs. nurture. I’ve heard some parents say that their kid was exactly who they turned out to be, straight from the womb. But what about the kids now that are growing up with endless information at their fingertips? Surely that’ll have some effect on who they turn out to be.

As with many things, it’s a combination of both. All we can do as parents is watch them grow, support them, and introduce them to cool bands in the hopes that they’ll turn out cool like us. If slipping a Fleetwood Mac album under their door is overbearing, then lock me up and throw away the key.
