If we’ve learned anything from perusing the various text conversations between strangers on the internet and their parents, it’s that some texting habits need to be nipped in the bud as soon as possible. When I was in college, I had to tell my mom to stop tracking my location and asking about why I was where I was. Usually, she sent pretty banal texts like, «I see you’re at your comedy show, have fun!» but when she tracked my location when I brought my roommate to the Emergency Room and kept texting me about it, I was getting pretty frustrated. I understood the desire of parents wanting to know exactly where their kids were when they’re living in another state. Still, I was dealing with an emergency at the time, and was not excited to give live text updates when I wasn’t in immediate danger, but nonetheless super stressed out.
